Thankful Children of Christ

I am a wife, mother of seven, a family nurse practitioner and most importantly a dedicated follower of Christ. My amazing husband, Matt and I are truly BLESSED with experiencing and navigating a blended family, complete with trials and triumphs. We each had children from our previous marriage and have been blessed with our own son. We are devoted to serving the Lord and focused on growing in our relationship with Christ in our marriage and as parents. We struggle daily, learn as we go, make mistakes, trusting God as we strive to disciple our children to truly know Jesus and live their lives to glorify and serve God.
Romans 12:10 'Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.'

abstain from facebook

Good-bye Facebook—(for a little while anyway)

July 23, 2014Ingrid 1 Comment

Follow up on my last blog, I had planned on commencing a fast from Facebook for 2 weeks starting this past Sunday…I was not successful with this at all as I was behind in uploading and sharing photos from our wedding. I have successfully uploaded photos from our special day to share with all of our loved ones and will now commence my Facebook fast starting Wednesday July 23, 2014 for at least two weeks.

I am sure I am not alone among my friends in family with time spent on Facebook.  It is just so easy and becomes such a habit to reach for my phone and check to see what everyone has been up to. I have asked Matt to join me in this challenge of abstaining from Facebook.  I am looking forward to this time seeing what I learn from this experience and how I change and grow with this over the next two weeks.

I am going to deliberately abstain from using Facebook for this period of time and use this to dedicate more time and focus on God, so in the moment I would be reaching to check on all the most recent Facebook status updates I will pause for a moment in prayer with God. I will use this time to reconnect and refocus my thoughts and energy on my walk with God and my incredible family. Even when it is just a minute here and a minute there at the end of the day the minutes really add up. Time is so precious and something you can never get back. Things in the day to day routine seem so busy and hectic, at the end of most days I pause and reflect with a feeling that there is never enough time in the day. I don’t want to look back and see wasted minutes on browsing Facebook, I want to look back and see minutes spent close to God and minutes growing closer to my incredible and amazing family.

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

This challenge I am taking on with my Facebook fast will lead me to being more obedient to following God’s command and placing Him first in my life and focusing on trusting, loving and honoring The Lord. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!

On a different note, it was so awesome going through and looking at all of the photographs from our wedding. I am so incredibly blessed. My husband Matt is the greatest blessing and truly an answered prayer from God. I did not know it was possibly to know such incredible joy and happiness.
