What excellent reminders Matt and I had this morning. We read Philippians chapter 4 this morning. It has been less than a week since we have been making a deliberate effort to get up early and spend a few minutes reading scripture and praying together.

Of course it is not easy falling into the habit of getting up a few minutes early and sacrificing precious sleep each morning. Since we started I think we’ve missed two mornings but other than than that we wake up a few minutes earlier than we need to and over a cup of coffee Matt and I read scripture, talk about it and then pray together. What an amazing experience already this is. We are not perfect with this but we aren’t looking for perfection, this is progress. We are starting our day even if it is a few minutes we begin our day with focus and time with The Lord which is essential to help us be the example our children need.

As we strive and work to raise our children to be thankful followers of Christ this morning devotional time in our marriage is progress.
